San Antonio School for Inquiry's Auditorium-like classroom mixes lecture based sessions with live musical instrument playing. Passionately driven faculty overseeing budding musicians, alive with primal energy, rhythmically colliding with overheard projector images on the wall; all the students follow along with the instructor whose wild eyed oratorical voice instructs like an angel strumming the guitar. Your lungs, hands, and feet are alive with musical sensations as you sing, dance, and play music. You're not in an opera; you're in San Antonio School for Inquiry and Creativity's Music Department. Music emanates from two classrooms, one dealing with live musical performance and the other-musical production. These two classrooms are nowhere similar in look or feel, but each one taught by professional musicians. Drum sets and guitars in guitar stands meet a wild eyed music student, while in another room, awe struck learners are met by a 11 person Apple Computer Lab- geared up with the latest Musical Production software like Reason's Propellerhead, ProTools 8, and Garage Band. This is the time for exposure to all the skills the students will need to prepare themselves for a career in the Musical Field. Picture this- an at-risk student having a dream of making music, while his/her family can barely afford to put food on the table, we are giving students every opportunity to learn, experience, and expose them to the means to fulfill those lifelong dreams.
